Bio
Assistant Coach Garth Haynes possesses a unique history in the Athletics Coaching Staff at Cañada College. A former Student Athlete at Cañada College (under former Head Coach Rich Anderson), Garth competed for Cañada College prior to transfering on a full-ride scholarship to Pepperdine University. Garth completed his degree at PU, and began his competitve career on the ATP Tour where he competed around the world (including at the US Open and Wimbledon).
Following his competitive retirement, Garth returned to the San Mateo Community College District as the Head Coach for the Tennis program at the College of San Mateo. After his successful tenure as Head Coach at CSM, Garth (once again) returned to private coaching. In 2015, the return of tennis to Cañada College brought Garth back to Cañada College to coach beneath former Head Coach, Rick Velasquez where the Colts appeared in the Coast Conference Dual Team Championship for two consecutive years - followed by semi-final showings at the ITA JuCo State Championships.
Garth's passion for tennis and competition is only overshadowed by his desire to help his Student Athletes succeed as student athletes and human beings.
