FREMONT – Freshman Dylan Antunovich posted a hat trick with three goals to help lead No. 3 nationally-ranked Cañada College to an 8-1 Coast Conference win at Ohlone College on Friday afternoon.
The win secured the Colts at least a share of the Coast Conference North Division championship. With an 8-0-4 conference record and 20 points, Cañada leads second-place Hartnell College (8-2-2, 18 points) by just two points. The two squads will face off in the regular-season finale on Tuesday (Nov. 11) at Hartnell. A Cañada win or tie would give the Colts the outright title while a loss would mean a co-championship.
The Colts, now 11-1-6 overall, head into Tuesday's match with a 14-game unbeaten streak. Cañada's last loss came on Sep. 12 at Fresno City College.
On Friday, Cañada poured it on at Ohlone. Antunovich earned his hat trick early, scoring in the 10th, 15th, and 20th minutes to give the Colts a 3-0 lead.
Andres Moreno scored twice and the Colts got single goals from Altai Ordubadi, Damian Samano Ocampo, and Josh Ramos.
Luis Evangelista recorded the win in goal for Cañada with another strong outing.
Tuesday's contest at Hartnell is set for a 3 p.m. start.
