KENTFIELD – The Cañada College men's basketball team is heading to Round 2 of the postseason after the No. 18-seeded Colts opened the Northern California Regional Playoffs with a 79-74 upset victory at No. 15 College of Marin on Wednesday night.
Shawn Acosta scored 19 points to lead the Colts. The win improved Cañada's overall record to 13-16.
The Colts will now continue their postseason run at No. 2-seeded Santa Rosa Junior College in a second-round NorCal Playoffs game on Saturday (Feb. 28) at 7:30 p.m. The two squads will be facing each other for the first time this season.
Santa Rosa brings a 24-4 overall record into Saturday's game. The Bear Cubs were Big 8 Conference champions this season with a 14-2 mark.
Two more wins are needed by the Colts to advance to the 3C2A State Championships on March 13-15 at College of the Sequoias in Visalia.
